Sample Answer

One event that comes to mind where I didn't enjoy the music was a friend's wedding reception about two years ago. The reception took place in a lavish banquet hall that was beautifully decorated for the occasion, but sadly, the music selection left a lot to be desired. The DJ played mostly electronic dance music, which was quite popular at the time. I understand that many people enjoy high-energy music for dancing, but in this case, it didn’t suit the atmosphere of a wedding. The majority of the guests were older family members and friends who were not keen on dancing to such pulsating rhythms. The songs were too repetitive, and the beats overshadowed any melodic elements, making it hard for anyone to hold a conversation. I recall trying to engage with other guests, but the loud music made it nearly impossible to hear one another. Moreover, I had hoped for a mix of romantic and classic tracks that typically resonate at weddings, like slow ballads or well-loved hits that could evoke nostalgia and fond memories. Unfortunately, the music seemed to dominate the event instead of enhancing it, leading to a disconnection among the guests. In conclusion, while I appreciate that music is subjective and can resonate differently with everyone, the choice at that wedding simply didn't create the right mood for such a significant celebration.
