When society condones such behavior, it risks normalizing a culture of disregard for life, which could percolate into human-to-human relationships.
Moreover, from an ecological perspective, the degradation of animal populations disrupts ecosystems, which in turn can jeopardize human livelihoods. For instance, the depletion of certain species can lead to imbalances that affect food chains, ultimately threatening agricultural stability and food security.
