Sample Answer
In contemporary society, it appears that altruism is somewhat on the decline, a phenomenon that can be attributed to various socio-economic factors. Firstly, the rapid pace of modern life, driven by technology and the relentless pursuit of individual success, often engenders a sense of isolation amongst individuals. Consequently, people may become preoccupied with their own challenges, leading to a diminished inclination to extend a helping hand to others. Furthermore, the pervasive influence of social media can create a superficial understanding of empathy, wherein individuals express support online but fail to translate those sentiments into tangible actions in their communities.
Moreover, societal issues such as economic disparity and a declining sense of communal belonging may dissuade people from engaging in acts of kindness, as they might perceive their efforts as futile in the grand scheme of systemic problems. In essence, while there are many compassionate individuals, the broader societal trends suggest a more self-centered approach to interpersonal relationships.
