I firmly believe that society indeed exerts pressure on individuals to gravitate towards costly hobbies. This phenomenon is significantly influenced by cultural norms and social media, where a curated lifestyle often glorifies luxury and exclusivity. Many are drawn to expensive pastimes, such as yachting or high-end fashion, not necessarily for personal fulfillment but rather to align with societal expectations or to project a certain image. Moreover, the commercialization of leisure activities exacerbates this trend, as companies perpetuate the notion that happiness and status are intrinsically linked to material wealth. However, it's essential to recognize that such pursuits can lead to financial strain and even dissatisfaction, as they may overshadow more affordable yet equally rewarding hobbies. Consequently, while society does promote expensive interests, this often comes at the cost of genuine, unmediated joy.
