Do you think art should serve a purpose or just be for enjoyment? Why?

I believe that art possesses the multifaceted capability to serve both practical purposes and evoke pure enjoyment. On one hand, art can be a powerful vehicle for social commentary, addressing pressing issues such as inequality and environmental degradation. For instance, politically charged murals or installations can raise awareness and provoke dialogue, instigating change within communities. Conversely, art's intrinsic value often lies in its ability to elicit emotional responses and provide solace, allowing individuals to escape the rigors of their everyday lives. Thus, I posit that the ideal state of art transcends a binary categorization of purpose versus enjoyment; rather, it is a symbiotic relationship where art can simultaneously engage intellect, inspire reflection, and offer aesthetic pleasure.
