Sample Answer
One time when I stayed far away from home was during a study abroad program in Australia. I spent an entire semester, approximately six months, in the vibrant city of Sydney. The decision to study in Australia was fueled by my desire to experience a different educational system and immerse myself in a new culture.
During my time in Sydney, I attended university classes focusing on environmental science, which is my field of study. Apart from studying, I took the opportunity to explore the city's iconic landmarks such as the Sydney Opera House and the Harbour Bridge. I also enjoyed visiting beautiful beaches like Bondi Beach, where I would relax or participate in water sports on weekends. Additionally, I made lasting friendships with both local and international students, enhancing my cultural experience.
Staying in Sydney was both exciting and challenging. On one hand, I felt exhilarated by the new experiences and adventures that awaited me each day. However, there were moments of homesickness, especially during family occasions and holidays. Overall, this experience broadened my horizons and helped me grow as an individual, instilling in me a deeper appreciation for diversity and the interconnectedness of our world. It remains one of the most transformative experiences of my life.
