Sample Answer
I would like to talk about a speech I delivered at my university during a student conference last year. The event took place in a large auditorium on campus, and I presented in front of approximately 100 fellow students and faculty members.
The audience consisted mainly of students from various disciplines, all eager to engage in discussions regarding current social issues. There were also several professors present, who were there to assess the students’ presentations as part of a competition. This made the atmosphere both excited and a little bit tense for all the presenters.
My speech focused on the impact of social media on mental health, which is a subject I am particularly passionate about. I highlighted both the positive aspects, such as connectivity and support networks, and the negative effects, like cyberbullying and addiction. I supported my arguments with several studies and personal anecdotes to make my points more relatable.
Delivering the speech was a nerve-wracking experience, as it was my first time speaking in front of such a large group. However, as I started to engage with my audience, I felt my anxiety slowly dissipate. The supportive expressions on my peers’ faces encouraged me, and I finished my speech feeling accomplished. This experience significantly boosted my confidence in public speaking, and I realized how powerful a platform can be for sharing important messages.
