Certainly, while traditions often serve as cultural cornerstones, there are certain practices in my country that merit reconsideration. One such tradition is the practice of dowry, which, despite being an ancient custom, perpetuates gender inequality and reduces women to transactional commodities. This practice not only creates pressure on families to accumulate wealth for the sake of marriages but also fosters a culture of entitlement among prospective grooms. By abolishing this tradition, we could pave the way for more equitable societal norms that value individuals beyond their economic contributions. It is essential to critically assess the implications of our traditions and discard those that hinder progress and equality, fostering a more inclusive society.
