In my country, the habit of reading has witnessed a notable decline in recent years, primarily due to the pervasive influence of digital media. While traditional reading, especially of books, remains cherished by a segment of the population, particularly among older generations and academics, younger individuals seem increasingly enamored with screen-based content, such as social media and streaming services. This shift has instigated a cultural evolution where quick, bite-sized information often takes precedence over deep, reflective reading. Nevertheless, there are concerted efforts to reinvigorate this habit; initiatives in schools and community libraries aim to foster a love for literature by promoting reading clubs and author visits. Ultimately, while reading may not be as ubiquitous as it once was, there exists a resilient undercurrent of passion for literature that continues to inspire and engage various demographics.
